GTC Shows Our Friendship! “GTC Shows Our Friendship!”

On Sunday, October 30th, members of the Turner Chapel A.M.E.Church loaded up in our vehicles, and we traveled with Rev. Ray A. Jackson to Parker Chapel A.M.E. in Shaw, MS to participate in their Family and Friends Day, where the Presiding Elder Archie Smith delivered the message. The Senior Choir provided two selections that helped to bring the spirit into the church. They were few in numbers, but they sounded as if they had a house full. And as if the spirit was not already high enough, when they finished their 2nd selection, our own Guitarsman, Mr. D'George Shoddie blew the roof off the church with his electrifing guitar playing. If it's not Rev. Jackson, then it's our choirs and musicians who love to show out when we are in other churches. Other churches in the North MS Conference also provided their talents that helped raise the spirits in the forms of singing and Praise Dancing. The program was spirit-filled, and Presiding Elder Smith provided a dynamic message on friendship. The message was so good, that Rev. Jackson said that he would not get up behind him and preach as he was extending the invitation to join church. Overall, the program was excellent, and the members really enjoyed themselves. If future programs are anything like this one, then the Turner Chapel A.M.E. Family is looking forward to joining in.

April 2011

Golden Egg Found! “Golden Egg Found!”

The Turner Chapel Family celebrated the rising of our LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST with many traditional events. The celebration kicked off with Sunrise Service. It has been years since we've had a 6:00a.m. service, but many members came out to this event. Rev. Jackson preached a wonderful sermon. Later on in the day, we had our regular service in which the Y.P.D. put on the play, "The Trial, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection of JESUS". The youth depicted the capture of our LORD, HIS trial, HIS suffering on the cross for our sins, and HIS triumphant rise to power. The Y.P.D. did a marvelous job on their performance. After the play, Rev. Willis preached a power message. And after all the services were over, The Turner Chapel Family held a traditional Easter egg hunt for the children and adults. Rev. Jackson hid both silver and gold eggs that held a nice little sum for the lucky person, or persons, who found them. The silver and gold eggs where found by brother and sister, Mr. Kelton Cockrell and Ms. Teresa Childress respectively. I'm sure that were extremely happy to have found them. And although this celebration was a joyous occassion, we can never forget what this day was truly about, and that is the Rise of our LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST. Amen!

All the organizations of the church surprised Rev. Jackson with several wonderful gifts, and he was very appreciative. He was so overwhelmed by the gratitude shown from our members and his "allergies started acting up". This truly was his time. Since he's been here, our church has grown in ways we would have never imagined, and we have been able to accomplish more than we could have accomplished, and it was all thanks to Rev. Jackson. We can truly thank him for all he's done for us, but this banquet was our way of showing our appreciation for all he has done. So the Turner Chapel Family would like to let Rev. Jackson know that we truly appreciate him for all he's has helped us to accomplish since being assigned to our church. He is not only our pastor, but he and his family our members of our family, and we would like to let you know, Rev. Jackson, that this truly is Your Time.
